The invention relates to a device with an adjustable headband for a protective helmet.
Since the human head is individually very different in terms of head shape, such as head circumference, width and height, helmets generally have systems for adjusting the various head sizes. This serves on the one hand to generate a comfortable fit and on the other hand to ensure a firm and secure fit of the helmet, so that the protective function is ensured.
Nowadays, the helmets on the market have adjustment systems for the different head sizes that are set either before, that is, when the helmet is not attached or afterwards with the helmet on. Especially the category of helmets, which allow a so-called adaptation of the head size from the outside, find more and more popular with users, because you can adapt the helmet individually and also to the respective situation without having to remove the helmet. The head circumference adjustment is the adjustment that has the greatest influence on a good fit of the helmet. Most systems that are used are so-called adjusting wheel systems in which a wheel is rotated, which causes two racks to move by means of a gear against each other. Full-shell helmets are pulled down further, especially in the area of the neck, than, for example, bicycle helmets, which for the most part are half-shell helmets. The adjusting mechanism or the operation for the head width adjustment can therefore be mounted either on the helmet shell or lie under the helmet shell. A head-width adjustment located under the helmet shell is less accessible for the operation.
Many helmet manufacturers use adjusting mechanisms for the head width adjustment, which are mounted directly on the helmet equipment. In this case, adjusting wheel including guide of the racks, locking mechanism for fixing the set head width and the decoupling mechanism for releasing the fixed head width adjustment are designed so that they are applied in a housing on the Kopftragering. This housing is held together either by screws or by Schnapphakensysteme so that the function is ensured inside.
From DE 198 82 440 B4 an adjustable headband with a sprocket mechanism is known in which the free ends of the headband provided with rows of teeth and are arranged overlapping each other. By means of an adjusting knob, which is provided with an engaging in the rows of teeth gear, the free ends are moved against each other, and thereby increases or decreases the length of the headband. The known sprocket mechanism requires a variety of items that must be held together in a housing.
The invention has the object to improve a device of the type mentioned in such a way that it consists of a few parts and is easy to assemble.
The solution of the problem arises from the features of claim 1.
Advantageous embodiments of the device according to the invention are specified in the subclaims.
The advantage of the device according to the invention is that the two free ends of the headband, which are slidably received in opposite directions in a guide receptacle are adjusted by a sprocket, which at its rear, the guide receiving end facing a lock washer and at the other end an adjustment having. The locking washer rests against the guide receptacle and the free ends of the headband, which are provided with engaging in the sprocket rows of teeth, are Austrian Patent Office AT13 053U1 2013-05-15 on the one hand in slots that are connected to the guide receptacle, both above and below of the ring gear and between the lock washer and the adjusting disk of the adjusting wheel. The free ends of the headband thereby fix the lock washer to the guide receptacle and thereby secure the adjusting wheel on the guide receptacle, without the need for additional measures. As a result, only a specially trained adjusting wheel is required for adjusting the headband in addition to the already existing free ends of the headband and the guide receptacle, which has a toothed ring lying between two discs. In this case, the disk lying to the guide seat is pressed as a locking washer by the free ends of the headband against the guide receptacle whereby the adjusting wheel is fixed to the guide receptacle. The free ends of the headband extend above and below the sprocket and are provided with engaging in the sprocket rows of teeth. The free ends of the headband are guided in slots on the guide receptacle in such a way that they are parallel to each other and intervening the ring gear. There are two slots for this purpose as the first double slots above the sprocket for the first free end of the headband and second double slots below the sprocket for the second free end of the headband. For fixing the adjusting wheel on the guide receptacle, a pivot connection is provided in such a way that a bolt is located on the guide receptacle and the adjusting wheel has a bore corresponding thereto. For mounting the adjusting wheel is first placed on the bolt and the locking washer is in this case on the guide receptacle. The locking washer is designed from the diameter so that it projects into the region of the double slots and is covered by the free ends of the headband. Thereafter, the free ends of the headband are inserted into the double slots above and below the sprocket.

Figure 1 illustrates in perspective view an adjusting device 1 for a headband, not shown, which has a first free end 2 with a first row of teeth 3 and a second free end 4 with a second row of teeth 5.
